India’s 2011 World Cup-winning coach Gary Kirsten stated that no one should dictate MS Dhoni when he should retire from the game. Kirsten added that Dhoni has earned the right to bid adieu to the game on his own terms as he has been a massive servant of Indian cricket over the last 15 years and he should be given his own space to make the big decision.

Meanwhile, out of the blue, DhoniRetires was trending on the social media platforms yesterday. However, Dhoni’s wife, Sakshi Dhoni squashed all the rumors as she made it clear that Dhoni has no such plans.

MS Dhoni should be given his space.

Dhoni’s retirement has been the talk of the town since he played his last international match against New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup. However, Dhoni has made any official statement and it is prudent to give him the space he needs.

In fact, many players like Harbhajan Singh believe Dhoni has already played his last match in the national colors and he would only continue to play in the IPL.

“MS (Dhoni) is an incredible cricketer. Intelligence, calmness, power, athleticism, speed and a match-winner separate him from others and puts him amongst the greatest sportsmen in the modern era,” Kirsten said while talking to Times of India.

“He (Dhoni) has earned the right to leave the game on his own terms and no one should dictate to him when that time is,” added the former South African opener.

Dhoni has been a massive player for the Indian team and he has played a key role in the success of the team. There is no doubt that a player should always be given his space and time to take a final call on his career.

We must respect a player of Dhoni’s stature and should support him right throughout. Retirement should always be a personal call and Dhoni has always been known to keep his cards close to his chest. Thus, there is no doubt that he will let the world know about his retirement when he would think that the time is right.

Dhoni is currently not in contention for national selection and it would be interesting to note if he takes a call on his future in the coming time.
