Former India skipper MS Dhoni could land in hot waters ahead of the upcoming Asia Cup 2018 due to a contract with the bat producing company, Spartan.
Meanwhile, there are reports that the company has not been regular with the payments to the contracted players. Moreover, apart from Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar also have inked a contract with Spartan.
As per reports, MS Dhoni is also the co-owner of the company, which can put the veteran player under some trouble. However, a Jalandhar-based businessman, Kunal Sharma owns the company. Furthermore, England limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan who uses Spartan’s bat is yet to receive his payments. Moreover, players like Mitchell Johnson, Joe Burns, Chris Gayle, and Kamil Khan have also joined hands with the company.

However, Dhoni could come under the scrutiny as he has continued to support the company’s sticker on his bat, despite knowing about these payment issues.
They could not have afforded so much in sponsorship deals with so many cricketers for so high prices without managing to sell his products sufficiently. He wanted to run before he could walk,” an Australian businessman said who was in contract with Spartan.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni came under the scanner for his recent performances in the limited-overs series again. So much so, there were speculations over his retirement. However, later on, he came in public to clear all the air over his farewell to international cricket.

Dhoni’s next assignment is in the forthcoming Asia Cup 2018, starting from September 15 in the UAE. India will begin their campaign on 18 September at Dubai International Cricket Stadium against Hong Kong. The defending champions will then lock horns with arch-rivals Pakistan on 19 September at the same venue.
