While chasing down the target of 183 runs against the mighty West Indies at the WACA stadium in Perth, New Zealand in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2K15 match, India were in trouble of sorts, losing their fourth wicket on 78, fifth on 107, and sixth on 134; but the Indian skipper M.S. Dhoni, for the umpteenth time, steered India to a four-wicket victory with commendable support from Ravichandran Ashwin.
Dhoni finished on a score of 45 runs not out from 56 balls; and while he scored his 32nd run, he went past Yuvraj Singh to become the fifth-highest run-scorer for India in One-Day Internationals (ODIs).
Dhoni finished the day with 8,343 ODI runs, 14 more than Yuvraj’s 8,329. The only Indians with more ODI runs than Dhoni are Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, and Mohammad Azharuddin, in that order. Of the top ten batsmen, Dhoni has the highest average and strike rate.
Dhoni had already gone past names like Virender Sehwag, etc. who is currently at the seventh position in the list, in India’s first match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 — against Pakistan at Adelaide Oval.
