The 34-year-old Dhawan made his debut under the captaincy of former Indian skipper, Dhoni. Currently, he is playing under the tutelage of Virat Kohli and has also played under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. When Irfan asked Dhawan to name the best Indian captain, he preferred Dhoni over Virat.

“(Best batting partner will be) Rohit Sharma… I have only played under Virat and Dhoni, so, as of now, Dhoni Bhai,” Dhawan told Irfan.

Dhawan, who has played 136 ODIs and 61 T20Is, opens the batting for Team India with Rohit Sharma. The duo is one of the most successful Indian opening pairs, scoring 4802 runs in 107 matches. After Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly, they hold the record of highest opening pair runs for India. The southpaw also picked Rohit as his best batting partner.

Dhawan termed skipper Virat Kohli as the ‘best current Indian batsman’. Dhawan also heaped praise on Rohit for his sublime show with the bat during the World Cup last year when he scored five centuries in the mega tournament.

Further, Dhawan also agreed to host the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year. He believes organising the league will bring more positivity and entertain fans in these distressing times of COVID-19 Pandemic.

“Of course, IPL should take place because people will get positivity from it. Currently, there is only coronavirus news and fear because of it,” Dhawan said.

Meanwhile, the lucrative league which was earlier scheduled to start from 29th March has been postponed indefinitely. There are speculations that the league might be shifted to September or October if ICC agrees to postpone the T20 World Cup 2020.
