MS Dhoni, former India skipper, arrived in Shimla on Monday along with his family for a 5-day sojourn in the ‘Queen of Hills’ Shimla.
Meanwhile, Dhoni is having an off-time after the limited-overs series against England got over. All and sundry criticised the stumper for his relatively below-par performances in England during the three-match T20I and the ODI series.
MS Dhoni batted very slowly which prompted many former cricketers to question his style of play. There were speculations about his retirement after the final ODI after he took the match ball from the on-field umpire. However later he clarified that he took the ball to show it to their bowling coach Bharat Arun.
The Jharkhand-born cricketer arrived at Jubbarhatti airport in a chartered plane and left for Wild Flower Hall in Charabara, around 15 km from Shimla. Dhoni along with his wife Sakshi would stay in Shimla till 31 August. Furthermore, as per reports, MS Dhoni would take part in the advertisement shoot of a private company.
However, this is Dhoni’s second visit to Shimla district and in 2004. Previously, he participated in a cricket tournament in Rohroo area of the region.
Keeping in view the popularity of the cricketing star, the Shimla Police have made adequate arrangements for his security. Himachal Pradesh government have also declared Dhoni as the ‘State Guest’.
Though nothing has been revealed about Dhoni’s plans in Himachal Pradesh. However, reports suggest he would take part in an ad shoot on the historic Ridge ground in Shimla.
The HP Police is reportedly planning to approach Dhoni to join the anti-drug campaign in the state and it is likely that they would request him for a video message for the youth to urge them to abstain from falling prey to the menace.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni’s next assignment will be the upcoming Asia Cup in September with the Indian team.
