Today, a lot of Indian fans will be crying. A lot of Indian cricket fans will be questioning MS Dhoni over his decision of sudden retirement in between a Test series. However, the captain cool has made his decision and we should all respect that. MS Dhoni is a big name in India. Everyone knows that the retirement was coming soon but not this way. Leaving everything behind, let us take a look at the top 5 Test innings which Dhoni fans rather all cricketing fans will never forget.
1. 224 against Australia, 2013
After a 4-0 trashing in Australia, it was time for revenge and MS Dhoni started the tour with a fantastic double hundred. Coming at 196-4, MS Dhoni first played watchfully and then demolished the Aussie batting line up which helped India get a 1-0 lead in the Test series. Later India whitewashed and won the series 4-0.
2. 148 against Pakistan, 2006
Tottering at 281-5 against a mammoth 588 by Pakistan, MS Dhoni came in and did not waste time in the middle as he scored a quickfire 148 of just 153 deliveries. He hooked Shoaib Akhtar’s bouncers with so much ease that it felt like a cakewalk for him. India got to 603 in the end and the match ended in a draw
3. 76 against England, 2007
This innings at Lord’s might not have got Dhoni to the honours board, however it was as effective as a century as India got out of a defeat and MS Dhoni guided India to a draw.
4.132* against South Africa, 2010
After getting South Africa out for 296, it was India’s turn to keep control of things. 4 men scored centuries including Dhoni and Dhoni and it was a delight to watch an innings filled with stroke play. Dhoni’s 132 came quickly compared to others as he scored them of just 187 balls and helped India script a fantastic win over the proteas.
5. 100* against Sri Lanka, 2009
After Sri Lanka got out for 393 in their first innings at Mumbai, it was time for India to take the lead. Sehwag set it up with a brilliant 293 and deep down the order a 154 ball 100* by Dhoni just gave the momentum which was needed as India scored a mammoth 726/9 dec in reply to win the Test match by an innings.
