MSK Prasad’s tenure as the chief selector came to an end after Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) selected the new chief selector, Sunil Joshi. In a recent interview, Prasad opened up on his journey while holding the responsible position. He also wished good luck to his successors.
Prasad’s tenure would have ended last year only but because of delay in the selection of CAC, who is responsible to select new selectors, saw Prasad getting an extension.
Finally, on Wednesday, CAC took the interview of the shortlisted candidate among whom Joshi and Harvinder Singh were liked for the job. As Joshi got the position of Prasad, Harvinder replaced Gagan Kohda in the selection panel.
While talking to Mumbai Mirror, he thanked BCCI and his colleagues and expressed that it was an honour for him to hold the position in BCCI.

“My best wishes to Sunil, Harvinder. I hope they will have a successful tenure. For me, it was an honour being the chairman of the Indian selection committee. I and my committee tried our best and I wish to thank the BCCI and my colleagues in the panel for this honour,” Prasad told Mumbai Mirror.
‘Selectors to have a say in the Playing XI’: MSK Prasad
Prasad has taken some big decisions for the Indian team which has led the team – to reach new heights. It was the South Africa and England tour in 2018 when the team was widely criticised for the selection of playing XI. Ajinkya Rahane was left out in South Africa while Cheteshwar Pujara and Shikhar Dhawan were not selected in playing XI in England.

As he is leaving the job, Prasad stated that the selectors on tour should have a say while picking the team.
“I would not like to be critical on anything except one factor in the Lodha reforms. From the South Africa tour (early 2018), the selector on call on overseas tours does not have a say in the touring selection committee. It was there previously. The best thing would be to have the selector in the touring committee. Because he would bring a dispassionate view in the selection of the playing XI,” Prasad said.
Meanwhile, the new selection panel will select the squad for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa.
