Mukund, Gowtham To Miss Remaining Games Of Duleep Trophy 1

In what comes as a big blow for India Red, it has been confirmed that their skipper Abhinav Mukund and all-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham will miss the remaining games of Duleep Trophy. Dinesh Karthik, who performed the duties of captain in the first match, will continue to lead the side in the absence of Mukund.

The left handed batsman was to play this game, but he is still down with dengue fever, which has resulted in him missing the whole tournament. He is also not the part of the India A squad for the two unofficial Test matches against New Zealand and will start his season for Tamil Nadu in Ranji Trophy.

Meanwhile, the exclusion of Gowtham comes as a surprise as despite not taking the field on the final day of the first game, he played Karnataka Premier league game for Belagavi Panthers and now will miss the tournament. He is also part of India A squad and would now directly join India A during the unofficial Test series.

Mumbai boys namely Akhil Hrwadkar and Vijay Gohil have replaced these two on the side. Prithvi Shaw is already the member of the team, and now India Red has four openers in the form of Priyank Panchal, Sudip Chatterjee, Shaw, and Herwadkar himself. The former two are expected to continue the role keeping in mind their impressive show in the first game.

Dinesh Karthik led side will take on the Suresh Raina led India Blue in the second game of the tournament from September 13. The four-day game will be played at Green Park in Kanpur.
