Must watch: Aakash Chopra hits Brett Lee with a solid bouncer

Former cricketers Aakash Chopra and Brett Lee may be now enjoying their life on the same team as they are co-commentator for IPL 9, but both of them actually rekindled their rivalry for a while recently. The pair relived their 2003-04 encounters from India’s tour of Australia when they faced each other once again. However, this time, it was the corridors of a sports channel’s office.

At first former India opener, Aakash faced Lee’s bowling and showed his solid technique still being sharp as he played with a straight bat and even dodged a Lee bouncer quite easily.

Lee eventually got him bowled. Aakash then took the ball and managed to hit Brett in his ribs with a bouncer which the former Australian pacer failed to dodge.

The video went viral when the Indian commentator later posted it on his Facebook page and has seen over thousands of people reacting to it on the social media platform.

One can remember it was Lee who bowled Aakash Chopra after softening him with a bouncer during India’s tour of Australia 13 years ago.

It was the fourth Test of the 2003-04 Indian tour of Australia in Sydney and both the sides were level on one win each.  Indian openers, Virender Sehwag, and Aakash Chopra managed to add 98 runs for the first wicket before lunch.

Pacer Brett Lee almost got a breakthrough, but he had Chopra caught off a no-ball once and the next ball saw him get Chopra to edge to the gully, only to have Simon Katich drop the chance. This proved to be a turning point for Lee, as Sehwag snatched 18 runs off him, a couple of overs later.

After lunch, Sehwag was caught behind for 72 (123 for 1) by Jason Gillespie. A short while after, Lee earned Chopra’s wicket with a yorker, after softening him up with a bouncer. Chopra fell on 45, and the score was 128/2.  Tendulkar scored an unbeaten 241 and VVS Laxman 178 as the match ended in a draw.
