Najam Sethi Set To Continue His Role As The Member Of PCB's Board Of Governors 1

The story

Najam Sethi and prominent corporate figure Arif Ejaz have been appointed as the two direct nominees along with eight Board of Governors (BoG) of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The three-year period, which will commence from August 6, 2017, after the end of the current cycle, is currently awaiting the approval of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday (July 8).

According to the constitution of the BoG, a fresh election will also be staged to elect the new chairman. The post has been made vacant after the 83-year-old Shahryar Khan tendered his resignation. The new chairman will serve till 2020.

The BoG is the backbone of the PCB consisting of 10 members constituting of four representatives of regional associations, four representatives of services organisations and the two representatives directly appointed by the patron.

There is also an 11th member who is essentially an official from an inter-provincial coordination government body appointed to act as an ex officio. He has no voting rights

Arif Ejaz, Who?

Ejaz is a popular name in the corporate world of Pakistan. He has worked as Chief Executive Officer for Adamjee Insurance and KSB Pumps Industries. Apart from the top the CEO posts, he has also acted as the Director of the Lahore Stock Exchange, Hub Power Company Limited, Non-Executive Director Kohinoor Textile Industries. Ejaz also plays a key role in the decision making of the Lahore University of Management Sciences, National Refinery Ltd., Pakistan Steel Mills Corp as a member of the board all the entities.

The entry of a man of such a calibre in management and leadership will bring some huge expertise on the table for the PCB.
