After the conclusion of the series in England on October 2, Pakistan will head to New Zealand the next day to feature in a T20I tri-series also featuring Bangladesh which will go on from October 7 to 14. They then leave for Australia for the 2022 T20I World Cup, where their campaign begins on October 23 against India in Melbourne.

Naseem Shah Replaced Shaheen Shah Afridi In Asia Cup 2022

PCB will hope the pacer who filled in admirably for the injured Shaheen Shah Afridi during the recently-concluded Asia Cup 2022, will recover in time to feature in the multi-team event.

Naseem Shah recently made his T20I debut in Asia Cup 2022. He picked 7 scalps in 5 T20Is in Asia Cup 2022 averaging 19.71 at an economy rate of 7.67. He got the wickets of KL Rahul,  Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Kusal Mendis, Mohammed Nabi, Babar Hayat, and Nizakat Khan in Asia Cup 2022- his maiden T20I series.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Wednesday that Naseem Shah’s participation in a three-nation tournament in New Zealand which is followed by the World Cup will also be advised by the medical panel which will be monitoring his recovery.

Naseem Shah played just the first match of the seven-match series against England in Karachi and was then rested for the next three matches. Pakistan is already without their premier fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, who has been out of action since mid-July due to a knee injury and is presently rehabilitating in the UK.

England won the series opener by 6 wickets against Pakistan. However, the Men In Green made an extraordinary comeback and won the second game by 10 wickets while chasing the 200-run target. The Three Lions England won the third T20I by 63 runs before Pakistan won the nail-biting 4th T20I by 3 runs and another thrilling 5th T20I by 6 runs to take a 3-2 lead.
