Former Pakistan opener, Nasir Jamshed has decided to challenge the multiple codes of conduct charges levied on him by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Meanwhile, PCB charged Jamshed for five breaches of Anti-Corruption Code for Participants. Jamshed was serving a one-year ban for his non-cooperation with the PCB’s spot-fixing investigation during PSL 2017 when PCB laid these charges.

Furthermore, PCB referred the matter for adjudication to an Anti-Corruption Tribunal after Jamshed’s decisions. The committee comprises of retired Justice Fazal-e-Miran, Shahzaib Masood and former bowler Aqib Javed. PCB in an official statement said, 

PCB remains resilient in its fight against corruption in cricket and shall take all measures necessary to uproot this menace.”

A day after his suspension in February 2017, Jamshed was arrested in the UK and immediately released on bail. Post that, PCB charged him in relation to PSL corruption scandal.

However, Jamshed has maintained his defiant stance and even made strong allegations against PCB. He alleged that PCB was trying to coerce other players to testify against him in the scandal.

Jamshed, who didn’t feature in PSL 2017 was one of the five players who came under the scanner. Subsequently, PCB handed him a punishment.

Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif got five-year bans for their involvement while Mohammad Irfan and Mohammad Nawaz got a 12 and two months, respectively for their failure to report a corrupt approach.

The southpaw has represented Pakistan in all the formats playing two Tests, 48 ODIs, and 18 T20Is. During his stint at the international scene, he scored 1832 runs across all the formats.

The swashbuckling opener made a name for himself in the fifty-over format scoring three centuries and eight fifties.
