A test back, the England captain was shot with several questions regarding his strategic decisions in captaining English squad. England went winless for a span of 10 tests in a trot. England Captain, Cook’s captaincy was put to doubt and many of the former cricketers suggested to remove Cook from the place of Captain. But now, the tables seem to have turned. After an emphatic victory over India by 266 runs, the matter seems to have been melted out. Recently, Nasser Hussain praised about Cook’s performance as well as his captaincy in the third test at Southampton.
Also, Hussain pointed of the fact that Cook has gone through a very rough patch and he desperately needed a victory to restore the confidence in him as well as in his team. Hussain also said that he felt the same pressure during his days as a captain.
In the 3rd test, England not only beat India, Cook regained his form. Hussain said that being England Captain is always a matter of sheer pressure and making such a comeback as Cook did is something really brilliant.
Hussain even pointed about the fact that England desperately need Cook to regain perfect form as a batsman and also it will help his captaincy for sure. He added that he feels the most important thing for England is Cook as a batsman. He is a match-winning and equally reliable batsman and has the ability to finish the game single-handedly. He also stated that Cook made a brave decision to bat first on a grassy pitch and he has come up well from it.
Cook scored 95 and 70 runs in both the innings and had thus regained the form for which he had long been waiting for.
It is now will be seen if Cook manages to take England to a series win after squaring the series 1-1 after the third test. The fourth test will be played at Old Trafford from 7th August.
