Former Indian opening batsman Navjot Singh Sidhu has suggested matches between top Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) teams. Sidhu suggested an interesting contest while leaving for Lahore.
Meanwhile, the former Indian batsman Sidhu was invited for oath ceremony of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan. The Pakistan former skipper Imran Khan shared a great bonhomie with Sidhu. Thus, the World Cup-winning skipper had invited Sidhu for the ceremony which took place on Saturday.
Navjot Singh Sidhu said cricket can take us to a new level. Thus, matches between the top sides of both countries T20 leagues is a good idea.
“Cricket takes us to a whole new level,” Sidhu said while taking to Samaa.tv before leaving for Lahore after attending Prime Minister Imran Khan’s oath-taking ceremony in Islamabad. “A match between the winning team of the IPL and PSL is a good idea.”
Meanwhile, India and Pakistan don’t lock horns with each other due to growing political tensions between the countries. Thus, the arch-rivals don’t take on each other on a regular basis.
India and Pakistan only square off in the major ICC events. They had last played against each other in the Champions Trophy final, which Pakistan won. In fact, the biggest nemesis will take on each other on September 19 in the Asia Cup 2018.
Navjot Singh Sidhu hopes he has laid the pillars by going to the Imran Khan’s oath ceremony.
“I hope I have laid the foundations and someone will work on it,” the former cricketer said.
