NepalT20 League is just over a month away. The tournament will be the official T20 competition of Nepal. Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) had launched it earlier this year. Earlier this year in April, CAN had announced that the NepalT20 League will be Nepal’s Official and CAN recognised T20 League. CAN launched the tournament in order to help the nation grow in cricket.

In July 2022, the International Cricket Council (ICC) sanctioned the league, thus making it the official T20 league of Nepal. The ICC does not recognise more than one official franchise league in a country. CAN have also roped in Seven3Sports, an Indian sports management company, as commercial and strategic partner for eight years.

Prashant Malla, acting secretary of CAN, had announced that Seven3sports will provide CAN with a purse of around Rs 330 million in the eight years period at an average of Rs 41.25 million annually. Nepal has a huge fan following for cricket and the upcoming NepalT20 League is looking set to become a huge hit. So before the tournament gets underway, here are all the details you need to ensure that you don’t miss out on the action.

NepalT20 League 2022: Schedule, Fixtures, Venue, Team List, Squads:

Nepal T20 League schedule, fixtures:

The inaugural edition of the NepalT20 League is scheduled to start on September 24 while the final is scheduled to be held on October 22. The tournament will be played in double round robin format. The full schedule is yet to be announced by the CAN. It will be updated as soon as it is announced.

NepalT20 League: Team list:

A total of 6 teams will participate in the inaugural edition of the Nepal T20 League. In July, CAN unveiled four of the six teams that will feature in the inaugural season. The four franchises revealed at the function in Kathmandu are Kantipur Capital, Biratnagar Superkings, Janakpur Royals and Lumbini All Stars.

The names of the remaining two franchises (Pokhara & Far-western) were not disclosed as per the request of the owners. Along with revealing the names of the franchises, CAN had also announced the owners of the teams. Kantipur Capital are owned by Mahesh Swar.

Here is the name of the four franchises along with their owners:

1. Kantipur Capital – Kantipur, Nepal – Mr. Mahesh Swar
2. Biratnagar Superkings – Diamond Digicap Pvt. Ltd., India – Mr. Vikram Yadav
3. Janakpur Royals – Goldsports Pvt. Ltd., India – Mr. Gouri Shankar Dhamani
4. Lumbini All Stars – Nepali All stars, USA – Mr. Sanjay Sharma

NepalT20 League – venue:

NepalT20 League 2022 is set to take place from September 24 to October 22 at Tribhuvan University Cricket Stadium, Kirtipur.

NepalT20 League – squads:

The squads for the NepalT20 League will be formed only after the draft. Players from around the world are set to feature in the draft. Earlier, CAN president Chatur Bahadur Chand had said that the players will be divided into three categories.

The players to be classified in three categories will have base price of Rs1.5 million, Rs1 million and Rs500,00. “The ‘C’ grade players will earn minimum purse of Rs500,000 and the players as well as the cricket governing body will be benefited financially,” the CAN president had said.
