And even before starting his tenure, the 28-year-old batting sensation won each and every cricket fan’s heart. His tweet was an echo of every Indian cricket fan’s sentiment who has spent the last decade seeing Dhoni make India a force to reckon with in world cricket.
The wonder boy from Ranchi was entrusted with the job of leading a bunch of inexperienced youngsters in the World Cup’s shortest version in 2007 but he did not buckle under pressure and announced his arrival on the world stage. Within a year, he was leading the team in all formats and the Indian team was enjoying its most fruitful time in the history of the game. From winning an ODI series in Australia, New Zealand, moving to the top of Test cricket to winning the World Cup and Champions Trophy, the Indian cricket was at its all-time high under Dhoni.
But as they say, all good things come to an end, Dhoni’s fairy-tale ride with the Indian team came to an end when the 35-year-old resigned from captaincy on January 4. As expected, the fans were left shell-shocked with his decision and took to Twitter to express their emotions.
