2. Injury
India has suffered several injury setbacks during the series. They suffered a huge blow when pace spearhead was ruled out of the series due to chikungunya. Matters deteriorated for the hosts when their regular openers KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan were ruled out of the series after getting injured. Well, India have enough firepower to replace these players but there are some more injury concerns which can hurt their chances.
There are doubts over the fitness of two of the best performers of this series- R Ashwin and Cheteshwar Pujara. Ashwin injured his finger during the first Test but still played the second match.However, with a long season waiting, the team management might give him a rest which can boost New Zealand’s chances.
