New Zealand ODI squad for India series announced 1

New Zealand Cricket Board have announced 15 man squad for the five-match series against India starting on October 16th in Dharamshala. The next four games will take place in Delhi, Mohali, Ranchi and Vizag.

The team will be captained by Kane Willamson. Corey Anderson has made a comeback in the New Zealand and plays as a specialist batsman in the series which was announced by New Zealand Cricket Board.

Corey Anderson a hard hitting batsmen did play his last international game in T20 World Cup held in India this year before being an injury to his back made him sit for the tours of Zimbabwe and South Africa.

“Corey’s professionalism throughout his rehab process has led to this point, and it’s a credit to him and the hard work he’s put in,” said Larsen. “We’re excited to have him back. He provides power through the middle-order and knows the conditions in India well.

“He’s still working on his bowling and we’ll continue to monitor that, but for this series, he will be used solely as a specialist batsman.”

While Devich and BJ Watling have made it cut to ODI squad. Devich played his last ODI in 2014 while BJ Watling last ODI match was in 2013. Neesham has been called into the ODI team. Tim Southee has been recalled into the ODI squad who was ruled out test series.

“India conditions are known to be quite harsh, so it’s really important that we have cover for all positions,” Larsen said. “Luke Ronchi and BJ Watling provide us with wicket-keeping and middle-order cover, while Anton is another spin option for us and can bat anywhere in the order.

“The last time we played ODI cricket was in the Chappell-Hadlee series and victory there helped us reach the world number two ranking. We obviously want to keep growing on that and this series is another massive challenge for us.”

Adam Milne, Mitchell McClenaghan, Collin Munro and Worker have been ruled out due to injuries. Here we look at the team. The New Zealand team consists of 2 spinners, 2 allrounders, 4 fast bowlers, 7 batsmen.
