New Zealand vs Bangladesh 2016/17: Mushfiqur Rahim Likely To Miss The Second Test 1

Mushfiqur Rahim, Bangladesh Test skipper, might miss the second Test against New Zealand at Christchurch due to a crack on his thumb. The wicket-keeper batsman was hit on his finger during the first Test but was cleared of any fracture but now it is his thumb injury that might keep him out of the second Test.

“His finger injury is worse, the hairline crack that has been found is new. He will need to give more time for this injury.

“Doctors in New Zealand usually advise not playing for three to four weeks. In England, they advise not taking the field for two to three weeks. In that regard, Mushfiqur may need three to four weeks to return,” Dean Conway, the Bangladesh team physio said.

The New Zealand series has been dreadful for him despite a good show with the bat. He was hit on his hand and was under observation during the first Test before being hit on the back of his helmet in the second innings of the same game. Mushfiqur was straightaway taken to hospital after the blow but was later cleared of any serious injury. Before the Test series as well, he missed two ODIs due to a hamstring injury.
