New Zealand vs Bangladesh 2019: 1st Test, Hamilton – Day 1 Review; New Zealand once again showed their dominance against Bangladesh. They have completely taken the honours on Day 1 of the first Test at Hamilton. Neil Wagner was the star of the day while Tamim Iqbal showed his brilliance with the bat.

Neil Wagner for New Zealand and Tamim Iqbal for Bangladesh have been brilliant in their respective fields. Right from the start of the match, Tamim Iqbal showed his class by knocking the boundaries more often than not. He scored a magnificent 126 that saw 21 boundaries and one six in it.

Meanwhile, Neil Wagner bagged yet another five-wicket haul in his kitty. He ended the first innings with 5 wickets to his name by giving away 47 runs in his 16.2 overs.

New Zealand vs Bangladesh 2019, 1st Test – Bangladesh 1st Innings:

Initially, it was New Zealand, who won the toss and chose to bowl first. Accepting the challenge, Bangladesh started things off in a great way with openers putting 57 runs for the first wicket. And then, Mominul and Iqbal added 64 runs for the second wicket to put Kiwis on the back foot.

Just when things looked solid for Bangladesh, then came the assault from Tim Southee and Neil Wagner. They both rattled the defence of Bangladesh to push them into deep sorts. Though Liton Das and Mahmudullah got the starts to change things, they failed to convert them into a big one.

Meanwhile, Tamim Iqbal scored a brilliant century to his name. For Kiwis, Neil Wagner picked 5 wickets while Tim Southee grabbed 3 wickets. Colin de Grandhomme and Trent Boult chipped in with one wicket to bundle out Bangladesh for 234 runs on the board.

New Zealand vs Bangladesh 2019, 1st Test – Kiwis 1st Innings:

In reply, Kiwis openers never gave a chance for Bangladesh to get a breakthrough. Jeet Ravel and Tom Latham were solid in their approach, who added an 85-run partnership for the opening wicket.

At the end of stumps on Day 1, Jeet Ravel was batting on 51* while Tom Latham is with 35 runs to his name. Bangladesh used all their 5 bowlers during their 28 overs stay on Day 1.
