After that, he played wonderful strokes and completed his 150 after the lunch break. His knock was special and he became the first Indian captain to score two double centuries in test matches. Before the tea break, Kohli completed his second double century of the year. Finally, he was dismissed for 211 after Tea on day 2.
- Rahane’s excellent knock of 188
Rahane also played a crucial knock for the Indian team. On the 2nd day, he began on the score of 79. He played cautiously in the first hour and then completed his 8th century of his test career. After completing his century, he dominated the New Zealand spinners and hit big strokes. He continued to play in an aggressive manner and scored his 150 in 300 balls. After completing his 150, he looked tired and was dismissed for 188 runs. By then he had done his job with the bat.
- Rohit Sharma another 50
Rohit Sharma played another good knock for the Indian team. He came to the crease after the fall of Virat Kohli wicket. Rohit Sharma took time while Rahane was going great guns. It was a good quickfire knock by Sharma who scored 51 off 63 balls with 3 boundaries and 2 sixes. Rohit Sharma took on the pacers and spinners to score some quick runs. On the 2nd day, the New Zealand bowlers failed to create any impact on the Indian batsmen. Jeetan Patel, Mitchell Santer, Trent Boult and Matt Henry did not put enough pressure on Rahane and Kohli.
