New Zealand's Amy Satterthwaite On Brink To Break Sangakkara's Unique Record 1
New Zealand's Amy Satterthwaite fell short by 15 runs in the wake to break world record of scoring five consecutive centuries in ODI's.

New Zealand’s woman all-rounder Amy Satterthwaite is on the brink of achieving something unique, something no man or woman has ever achieved in cricket’s history.

The left-handed batsman has already equalled Kumar Sangakkara’s record of scoring four consecutive centuries in ODI’s, and if she manages to score one more against Australia in the second Rose Bowl One-Dayer on Thursday, she will make history.

In 2015 World Cup, Sri Lanka batting stalwart hammered four hundreds on the trot, which was then the record, as many in past came close to achieve it but no one could. The left-hand batsman put up centuries against England, Scotland, Bangladesh and Australia.

Satterthwaite brought up her fourth consecutive ton in Sunday’s five-wicket win over Australia and would now aim to shatter numbers books in the following match. Her dream run started last November, when she first notched up an unbeaten 137 against Pakistan, before lodging 115* against the same side on the same venue two days later.

She completed her run by scoring a 99 ball 123 at Nelson before she was rested for the final game. As soon she registered match-winning ton against Pakistan, she became the first woman ever to have score three centuries in as many games.

Playing for White Ferns, the 30-year-old said she is happy with the knocks and that win against Australia would only add value to it.

“I think scoring 100 in any game is huge and to get it chasing that total against a classy Australia team is very special. I would have liked to go faster during the first half of the innings but I was happy to get it done in the end.”

However, players who stand second in the list, having scored three consecutive tons in three matches are; Babar Azam (Pakistan), Zaheer Abbas (Pakistan), Saeed Anwar (Pakistan), Herschelle Gibbs (South Africa), AB de Villiers (South Africa) and Quinton de Kock (South Africa) and New Zealand’s Ross Taylor.
