New Zealand fast-bowling all-rounder Kyle Jamieson is all set to make an international comeback after a long-standing back injury. The 28-year-old suffered a lower-back stress fracture in the Test series against England. The Blackcaps have added a few new faces to their squad for the tour of UAE starting on August 17.

The right-arm pacer Jamieson last played for Black Caps during their tour of England in June 2022 and underwent surgery in February and recently completed his rehabilitation.  The all-rounder will look to prove his form and fitness ahead of the important ODI World Cup later this year in India.

Speaking to the media, New Zealand head coach Gary Stead hailed Kyle Jamieson for working hard to make a comeback into the national side and was elated to have him on the side ahead of the ODI World Cup and also happy for young Adi Ashok and Dean Foxcroft, who have made into the T20 squad following their brilliant performance in the domestic cricket.

“Kyle’s worked really hard and made great progress to be available for this tour and we’re delighted to see him return after such a challenging year. We’re all aware of his world-class skills and I know he’s really excited to get back with the group,”

“It’s always exciting to introduce new players to the Blackcaps environment and especially so when they’re on the younger side, as Adi and Dean are,” Gary Stead said.

Tim Southee will lead the side for the T20 series against UAE and England. Black Caps will play a three-match T20 series against UAE in Dubai starting on August 17.

The Kiwis will then travel to England for four-match T20 series, which will be played from August 30 to September 5 followed by 4-match ODI series in England, which will act as a preparation for their team going into the mega event in India.
