New Zealand women’s cricket team beat India in the second One day International by 3 wickets at the Chinaswamy Stadium, Bangalore, just few moments ago. It was a disappointing batting performance by the Indian team, but New Zealand played excellent cricket to win the match.
Chasing 164 to win New Zealand innings got off to a poor start losing Suzie Bates for just 1. After losing her wicket Priest and Saatherwite put up a 35 2nd wicket partnership before losing 2 back to back wickets at the score 46. New Zealand lost 1 more wicket at the score of 68. Then Devine and Perkins steadied the innings putting an important 49 5th wicket partnership. They lost 3 more quick wickets to leave the New Zealand team struggling at 132 for 7. Peterson and Kasprek did the job, helped New Zealand to win the match by 3 wickets with 34 balls to spare. The pick of bowlers for India was Jhulan Gowswami who grabbed 2 wickets, while conceding only 14 runs.
Earlier in the day, India won the toss and elected to bat. The Indian women’s team started off to a positive note with Thiruskamini and Madhana putting 33 runs first wicket partnership. Mithali Raj and Kamini were brilliant with their batting putting 35 more runs for the second wicket. After the loss of Mithali Raj’s wicket, the Indian team lost wickets at regular intervals. The top scorer for India was Kamini with 61. Kamini retired due to an injury. India was bowled out for 163.
With this win the series is equal at 1-1 and the next match will be played on 3rd July at the same ground.
