ToggleThe BCCI, on Saturday, announced four squads – India Blue, India Red, India Green and India Yellow – for the Under-19 Challenger Trophy. Each squad has 14 players. However, Arjun Tendulkar was not included in any of the four squads.
The latest development comes as a huge surprise, considering the way Arjun performed this year. Arjun had announced his arrival to the Indian cricketing arena by earning his maiden call-up from India’s Under-19 team. He was a part of the team for the Youth Tests in Sri Lanka. Arjun had gone on the make a name for himself by claiming his first wicket in his very first over.

Recently, he impressed in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy. The left-arm pacer had bagged the figures of 5/30 to help Mumbai thrash Gujarat by 9 wickets. He had also taken 3 for just 14 runs off seven overs in Mumbai’s 10-wicket win over Assam.

Earlier this week, he had taken six wickets for 70 runs while playing for Vijay Merchant XI against Vijay Manjrekar XI in the KC Mahindra Shield U-19 tournament.
But the BCCI selectors were perhaps not impressed by Arjun’s exploits as they ignored him from all the four teams of the Under-19 Challenger Trophy. The latest development will be huge setback for Arjun. It makes it pretty clear that he does not even feature in the top 56 under-19 players of the country.
