Sarfaraz Ahmed removal from the position of Pakistan captaincy post has become a hot topic in the cricket world. The player has been dropped from the team as well as has lost his captaincy position in T20I and Test cricket. Babar Azam will now lead the team in T20I and Azhar Ali will be the Test captain.
There were also rumours that Sarfaraz will be demoted to lower category in the central contract. PCB spokesperson made clear that Sarfaraz would retain his top category in the central contracts which run till July next year.
“There will be no change in his central contract as he is available for selection in all three formats,” the spokesperson said.
Many disappointed in the removal of Sarfaraz Ahmed from the T20I captaincy
However, many are disappointed to remove Sarfaraz from T20I leadership. The team was most successful in T20I under him as the team is on No.1 for two years. Under his captaincy, Pakistan won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017. He captained the team in 37 T20I matches out of which Pakistan has won 29 matches.
Azhar Ali, who is the new Test captain, has stunning record against Australia as the next assignment of the team is Australia tour. The team will hope better performance from him as a captain as well as a batsman.
Meanwhile, there was also news that Sarfaraz was given the chance to step down from the post before being sacked. But Sarfaraz Ahmed disagreed to do so.
Pakistan team will play the three T20I matches and two Test matches in Australia ground. The newly appointed head coach Misbah-ul-Haq‘s experiment in the team will have everyone’s eye.
