The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will not form a commission to investigate the matter of spot-fixing if Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif accept their guilt, a top PCB official said on Wednesday (February 15).
The two players were suspended by the PCB and sent back home mid-way from the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) on charges of spot-fixing.
Shahryar Khan, the PCB chairman, said both players were caught red-handed and the board will penalise them for this.
“The PCB will decide what to do but one thing is clear exemplary punishment will be given to players involved in wrong doing.”
“They are being heard out and if they want more time they will be given 10 to 15 days to come up their explanation,” he added.
Apart from these two players, Nasir Jamshed has also been suspended by the PCB and in fact, he was arrested along with a bookie by the Britain’s Crime Agency. It was reported that it was Jamshed who introduced both Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif to the bookie.
Many other cricketers have also been quizzed by the anti-corruption board, which is keeping an eye on the activities of the players, so as to prevent any kind of a thing that can tarnish the image of the game, the PCB and the league.
