No Verdict So Far, BCCI-Lodha Panel Hearing Adjourned Till December 9
Further delaying the much awaited verdict on the BCCI’s future, who are yet to implement the Lodha Panel recommendations in total, the Supreme Court on Monday adjourned the hearing on the matter till December 9.
TS Thakur, the Chief Justice of India, who happened to hear the proceedings of the matter. wasn’t keeping well and thus the date was shifted further.
The apex court last heard the case on October 21, when it passed an interim order asking under-fire BCCI to put a full stop on the distribution of funds to state associations until the state gives it in written to accept the Lodha Reforms well withing the due date.
Not only this, BCCI’s president Anurag Thakur and secretary Ajay Shirke were asked to submit an affidavit of compliance in the court by December 3, explaining steps taken to implement the reforms by the board and their efforts to ask the state to adopt recommendations in total.
The Panel which consist of former Chief Justice of India RM Lodha along with retired Supreme Court judges Ashok Bhan and R Raveendran, was formed to bring change in allegedly corrupted cricket’s governing body in India, the BCCI.
The three-member bench also had a task in hand to punish the offenders of match-fixing case which came up during the 6th season of Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2013. Apart from this, the panel proposed smooth functioning in the BCCI.
