England pacer Stuart Broad, who has recently hung boots from cricket has opened up about his unwritten pact with his fellow bowling partner James Anderson that both will not retire out of the game at the same time from International Cricket.

Stuart Broad has announced his retirement from all formats of international cricket following the completion of the Ashes series on home soil. The right-arm pacer made his debut for England back in 2006 and has been a mainstay for England in the longer format of the game alongside James Anderson.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Stuart Broad said that they have an unwritten clause with James Anderson that they finish the game at the same time as they want one of them to be part of the change room to pass the experience to incoming youngsters and revealed that James Anderson was confident of working hard to make it into the England squad for India earlier next year.

“It was like an unwritten clause in a contract that Jimmy and I never wanted to finish at the same time. We always wanted an overlap one way or the other, a crossover of knowledge, not 300-plus matches of Test experience disappearing out of the changing room.”

“So, I chatted to Jimmy during the Old Trafford Test and he said he was going to work on loads of different things, would make sure he was as fit as anything going to India this winter, and was buzzing about next summer,” Stuart Broad said.
England Veteran Fast Bowling duo Stuart Broad and James Anderson are the second bowling pair to take 1000 wickets together in Test cricket and the duo currently has 1009 wickets combined in red-ball cricket. They are also the highest wicket-taking pacers in the most extended format of the game and will go down as one of the most legendary pair to have played the game.

Stuart Broad said that he was excited to see James Anderson play for a few more series and added that over the years they have understood each other very well playing the longer format of the game over a decade or so in International cricket.

“Hearing how excited he was to carry on suggested that it could be time for me to end what was the ultimate partnership, really. One that grew over time. We understood each other probably better than we understood ourselves,” Stuart Broad added.

James Anderson has 690 wickets at an average of 26.42, with 32 five-wicket hauls. The 41-year-old is behind the Legendary former spinners Muttiah Muralitharan (800) and Shane Warne (708) are above England great and the pacer will look to add on some more wickets to his tally before retirement from the game.
