Over the years, Yuvraj Singh has been India’s number 4 batsman. He ruled the roost at that slot before losing out his place because of the fitness concerns. Meanwhile, the Indian team suffered a lot for the perfect replacement at that slot, where they finally satisfied with Vijay Shankar for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019.

Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019. One of the major debates after the conclusion of the announcement is the number 4 batsman Vijay Shankar, who got the nod ahead of Ambati Rayudu. Meanwhile, Yuvraj Singh makes his opinion out.

There are a couple of options – Yuvraj Singh

Speaking of the number 4 batting, Yuvraj Singh didn’t express his opinion out by naming any certain player. He feels that the position needs a lot of experience, as we play the best teams in world cricket. However, he feels that there are quite a few options on the side.

“That question you need to ask the selectors, not me. All I can say is that No 4 is a very important position and I am sure they have selected the team thinking about the whole competition. We have to find who is batting at No 4, I am sure there are a couple of options, we just have to wait and watch.”

You will be put under pressure:

Further, he went on to add saying that it is not only with the number 4 slot but all the five slots are very important for the team to make things fall in place during the ICC World Cup 2019.

“The thing for me is that when you go back you need experience for whatever number you are batting. All five positions are very important. The conditions are going to be different, so I think it’s how you manage yourself under pressure. You will be put under pressure because the best teams in the world are playing. How the guys handle pressure in crunch situations is actually going to show the character of the team.”

The batting all-rounder has always been a scarcity for India in the International cricket. After Kapil Dev, we hardly got a player with a stature like him. After quite a time, India got a leap of faith with Hardik Pandya delivering the goods in both sections of the game.

Now, they got one more player in the form of Vijay Shankar, who is a batting dominant all-rounder. But, will his experience is enough for such a big tournament? However, it seems like the Indian team management and the skipper Virat Kohli is confident of the youngster.
