Former England captain Nasser Hussain thinks it might not be a bad idea for Indian captain Rohit Sharma and his team to take a break from the game before their match in his home town against Sri Lanka. The Men in Blue has won six games on a trot and would be keen to put fine display going forward in the remaining games of the ODI World Cup.
Barring Hardik Pandya’s injury, Team India looks to be in excellent form and has every requirement met to win the championship. The Men in Blue has been in the greatest form and intensity coming over the top of high-quality opponents. Beyond their amazing form and remarkable individual feats, the Indian team’s great camaraderie plays a significant role in their ongoing dominant run in the mega event.
Speaking to the Broadcaster of the ODI World Cup, Nasser Hussain believes that the host team has an advantage in the home World Cup due to having breaks in between games. He cited Indian skipper Rohit Sharma as an example of getting some time away from the team in Mumbai. He further emphasized that if he were the Indian coach, he would ensure that the players get some time away from the World Cup Bubble.
“One of the advantages of a home World Cup is to have work, rest, and play. For someone like Rohit Sharma, I’d say get some time away from this team. You’re in Mumbai now, go and see the family. It’ll help get away from the game. It’s a very long tournament. You’re under pressure for a long time. If I were Rahul Dravid, I would be saying to some of my players – Make sure you get some rest in, make sure you get away from the bubble of this World Cup,” Nasser Hussain said.
After winning his 100th match as captain of India, Rohit returns to the Wankhede Stadium, where he has grown over the years in domestic cricket and IPL. Having missed India’s World Cup moment of success in 2011, Rohit Sharma would be determined to put up a show in front of his home crowd.
With 398 runs from six matches at an average of 66.33, including two fifties and a century, he has already lit the stage on fire. The Indian skipper would be keen on carrying his fine form forward towards the business end of the tournament.
