Former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly will be involved with the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) for the smooth conduct of the ODI Cricket World Cup in India. Preparations for the marquee event in India are underway, as the country will host the event after 12 long years.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is currently renovating the stadiums that are in line to host the matches of the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023 and they are looking to provide world-class facilities for the teams and fans to watch spectacle in the country.

Eden Gardens will host five matches in the tournaments, and the Cricket Association of Bengal will host the four league games in the marquee event and a high-octane semifinal. According to reports in the India Today,

“Eden’s work is going well. The work will be completed in time,”  Sourav Ganguly said.

CAB President, Snehashis Gangopadhyay revealed that they made a 12 members committee for the World Cup and feel that Sourav Ganguly and Abhishek Dalmiya will be part of the team, as they will be a lot to achieve grand success in the event.

“We have made a committee of 12 members for the World Cup. Both Sourav and Avishek who is the member of the IPL governing council have been kept. All of us are ready to achieve success in this great yajna,” he said.

According to the reports, the fire broke out on the false ceiling of the players’ dressing room and it was said that the fire was caused by to short circuit and the equipment and belongings of the players which were kept in the dressing room were reportedly burnt and two fire engines brought the situation under the control.

The ODI World Cup is to be held in India from October 5 to November 19 with the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad scheduled to host both the opening match and the final as well. The upcoming competition will be a special one for India and Indian fans as the country will host the tournament alone for the first time.

This will be the first time the entire World Cup will be held completely in India. So far, India has co-hosted the ODI World Cup thrice – 1987, 1996, and 2011. India is also hosting an ICC event for the first time since hosting the T20 World Cup in 2016.
