Sourav Ganguly believes that India needs to have a proper wrist-spinner for the ODI World Cup later this in India in addition to the Indian finger-spinning all-rounder in the team and highlighted the fact of the Indian team ignoring Yuzvendra Chahal in the mega events, despite playing him in the bilateral series.

Chahal is constantly among the wickets in the white-ball format of the game and has added more variations to his arsenal, making him more lethal  Though he has performed well for India, he could not find a place in the playing 11 in the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Speaking on Star Sports, Sourav Ganguly feels that Indian team management needs to find a wrist spinner going in the coming months, as they have got enough talents in the finger spinners, who can play as the all-rounder in the team and added that Yuzvendra Chahal somehow misses his place in the mega events despite performing well in the shorter formats.

“I feel India has to find a wrist-spinner for this World Cup. Jadeja is there, Ravichandran Ashwin is there, Axar Patel is there, who according to me is also an exceptional all-rounder.”

” Bishnoi and Kuldeep are there but Chahal somehow misses big tournaments. He performs extremely consistently in shorter formats, whether it is 20-over or 50-over. It is important to keep an eye on him as well.”

Many believe that Indian bowling duo Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav can be spinners for the Indian team in ODI Cricket, as they dominated the batters during 2017-19 before falling out of favour for the Indian team and will look to once again bring in the “KulCha”, especially on the sub-continental conditions.

“When we went to South Africa in 2007, there also our wrist-spinners bowled well along with the fast bowlers. Harbhajan Singh was in that team. I feel it will be extremely important to keep a wrist-spinner in Indian conditions,” Sourav Ganguly concluded.
