Born in Barbados this dayin1951, Gordon Greenidge went on to become one of the finest players to ever play for the Caribbean outfit.
At 12, he moved to England, played county cricket there and was eligible to play for the England national team but Greenidge decided to don the West Indies colors and the rest is history. He formed one of the greatest opening partnerships with Desmond Haynes and dismantled almost every bowling attack in the world at that time.
He scored 7558 runs in his test career at an average of 44.72 with a highest score of 226 against England. He played his last international game in 1991 against England at Manchester.
