Seven year’s ago on this day, the men in blues achieved what the nation waited for as long as 28 years.

India under the leadership of MS Dhoni won the ICC 2011 World Cup at the historic Wankhede Stadium. However, in its 7th year, former India cricketer Virender Sehwag relived those landmark moments.

On 2nd April 2011, India edged past neighbours Sri Lanka to win the World Cup after 28 years. Previously, Kapil Dev-led Indian team won the prestigious trophy in 1983 against the West Indies.

Also, it was also the first World Cup victory for Sachin Tendulkar, which he achieved in his sixth attempt.
