Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been sensational in the longest format of the game as the elegant right hander has broke a number of records over the past few months.
However, the 28-year old can now never break one of the most unique records held by former Indian captain MS Dhoni. The latter has never lost a test match to Australia at home.
Virat Kohli has lost his first test to Australia quite comfortably last week as the visitors ran through the Indian batting lineup to clinch a memorable 333 run victory. India have not managed to reach 110 mark in both the innings as the Aussies exploited the conditions to the best of their abilities.
Despite, losing the first test India still has a good chance of winning the test series as there are another three tests that are to be played in the four match test series. However, Virat Kohli can never break the record of MS Dhoni after the embarrassing loss at Pune.
Dhoni has led India in about 9 home test matches against Australia since taking over as captain in 2008. He has led India to 2-0 win in 2008/09 after taking over from Anil Kumble in the last test of the series, then won again by the same margin in 2010/11 followed by a massive 4-0 in 2012/13.
Meanwhile, despite the poor performance at Pune, Virat Kohli has led India on a 19-game unbeaten streak which is the most managed by an Indian team so far. The Delhi batsman is bound for greatness in captaincy as well as he has inbred the qualities of Sourav Ganguly and has also been trying to be more calm while approaching the game in difficult situations.
The 28-year old is expected to break a number of other records in captaincy in the near future but he can never break this specific record which is held by MS Dhoni.
