One South Africa Player Knew About Ram Slam Match Fixing Scandal, Says Banned Alviro Petersen 1
Alviro Petersen of South Africa was handed a two-year ban by CSA for breaching anti-corruption code.

Banned South Africa player Alviro Petersen has revealed that not only him, but one player from the Proteas team too had information about the match-fixing scandal, which rocked Ram Slam T20 tournament last year.

Barred from playing or participating in any form of cricket for two-years by Cricket South Africa on Wednesday, Petersen told SABC few of the board officials and one playing member from South African team owe some information which could guide the anti-corruption squad to reach their destination.

“There is one (Proteas player) who might have information that could assist the investigation. If this matter goes to a tribunal or becomes a criminal matter that person’s credibility will be under the spotlight.”

Adding fire to the fuel, the right-handed batsman said few of the officials from board were quite hopeful of him not making any noise about the match-fixing scandal, which has already seen five players getting trapped and suspended including Gulam Modi, who has been banned for 20 long years.

“If there had been a tribunal it could have got messy. A lot of dirty laundry would have been aired in public. Lots of people are holding out hope that Alviro doesn’t say everything.”

The former opening batsman admitted to failing the disciplinary code of not disclosing the information related to match-fixing to the anti-corruption body, which is equivalent of being involved in the same.

Apart from Gulam Modi, other players involved were Thami Tsolekile, Pumelela Matshikwe, Jean Symes and Ethy Mbhalati, who were all banned for periods ranging between 10 and 12 years. CSA, however stated the matches weren’t fixed and the investigation is still under process.
