Opinion: The selectors are experimenting with these five Indian players in the limited-overs format 1
Dinesh Karthik of India

The veteran wicket-keeper batsman has been brought back to the team as a specialist batsman as India lacked solidity in the middle order. Kartik has been in and out of the Indian side and if you look back at the time when he made his Test debut it has been more than 10 years that he has been part of the Indian set-up.

After the rise of a certain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Karthik was in the wings for a long time until he was brought back as a premier batsman for the 2013 Champions Trophy. His latest comeback has been pretty impressive against the Kiwis as he stroked his way to a match-winning half-century and also chipped in with a few other useful innings. If Karthik continues to impress he might well be the batsman India was looking for with the World Cup still a year and a few months away.
