As the pictures of cricketers were displayed on the giant screen before the New Jersey was launched by Oppo, the smartphone manufacturers at its lavish event in Mumbai’s JW Marriot Sahar hotel, has further shown how the brand is teaming up with gentleman’s game — to take it to a new high, in a cricket crazy nation like India.

“The venue (Oppo event in Mumbai) looks like a small cricket stadium. Team India is the best spirit of the cricket,” Brand Director of Oppo India Mike Wang said at the Team India jersey launch.

While launching the Oppo F3, the company has live-streamed the event while revealing the jersey donned by ladies at the event.

Wang, who is fond of cricket revealed he is also playing cricket in his leisure time before starting, the cricket has played a significant role particularly in India.

“Cricket is so popular in India. It has encouraged millions of youngsters and has united the country (India),” Wang added.

Titled as ‘Cheer for India, Cheer for Cricket’ the jersey was unveiled as the Oppo officials were excited over the launch of the new phone and much-awaited kit which cricket fans are highly likely going to witness in the upcoming Champions Trophy when India will take on arch-rivals Pakistan on June 4 in Edgbaston.

“We are very proud of the partnership with Team India while sponsoring it,” Wang concluded.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Rahul Johri has shown satisfaction at the event by thanking its team partner Oppo for sponsoring the Team India’s New Jersey.

“We are really happy to be here on behalf of the entire family of the BCCI. I welcome everybody at Oppo to the cricket family. The Indian cricket team as you know today is the Number One (in ICC Ranking) in the world,” Johri said at the launch of new Jersey.

Oppo has claimed the rights up to 2022 after emerging as bidding winners in March by paying INR 1079 crore for sponsorship rights.

“There is no better partnership than sponsoring the Indian cricket team as Oppo has shown the commitment to cricket on the whole and to India in particular,” Johri added.

With the launch of New Jersey, it is expected Team India will be announcing the squad any time for the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

“Oppo Mobiles and BCCI share a common vision and spirit to provide the best experience to the Indian audiences. I am confident we will work together to grow cricket further. Just like Oppo has created a trend of selfies, cricket is a way of life in India,” Johri revealed.

The sponsorship right started from April 1st of this year until March 31st, 2022 as India is further scheduled to play 20 series away from home and 14 at home.

“And I feel this partnership is a perfect marriage of two great companies or two platforms. I wish you (Oppo) all the very best and welcome to the cricket family,” Johri concluded.

During the span of five years, the Men in Green will play ICC Champions Trophy followed by 50-over World Cup and Twenty20 World Cup.
