The ongoing ICC WTC Final between India and Australia is scheduled for a solid finish after three days of fine action at the Oval, London. While Australia have managed to keep themselves ahead in the contest, India have put themselves in a position where they still have a chance to fight back.
Australia thoroughly dominated the first two days of WTC Final before India finally showed fight on day three. After being asked to bat first, Australia scored 469 runs in their first innings with Travis Head and Steve Smith starring with the bat. The duo shared a 285-run partnership for the fourth wicket after India had the opponents reeling at 76 for 3.
Head scored 163 runs while Smith smashed 121 to guide their team to a big total. In reply, India made a poor start with the bat and finished day 2 on 151 for 5. Day 3 did not start on a strong note either as India lost KS Bharat early before Ajinkya Rahane and Shardul Thakur shared a 109-run stand for the seventh wicket. India eventually finished their first innings on 296 before Australia ended day 3 on 123 for 4.

Rain had played spoilsport during the first WTC Final too. In 2021, the clash between India and New Zealand saw almost three days of play getting washed out by persistent rain. The game was then decided on the reserve day as New Zealand beat India to win the title. A reserve day is in place for the ongoing final too.
