Former Pakistan batting legend Mohammad Yousuf backs Pakistan skipper Babar Azam to break his long-established record of most runs in a calendar year in Test cricket. The 28-year has been a fine performer for men in green in all three formats.
“Babar Azam’s exceptional performance has made him Pakistan’s finest cricketer in this era, placing him among the world’s top three to four players. His outstanding global achievements validate his status as a world-class player,” Mohammad Yousuf said.
Mohammad Yousuf wants his long-standing record of the highest run in the calendar year to be broken by Babar Azam as he has the potential to break his record. Yousuf has the record of scoring 1788 runs in 11 Tests at an average of 99.3 in 2006.
“As a former cricketer, I would be pleased to see my record broken by a Pakistani player, and I do not doubt that Babar Azam has the potential to break my record due to his exceptional abilities on the field,” Yousuf added.
Babar Azam is known for his consistency in world cricket, as he scored runs in all parts of the world, with his age on his side, the Pakistan skipper has a chance to achieve this massive record for surpassing Yousuf’s record. Babar has a total of 28 hundred in all formats of cricket in International cricket, with over 59.42 average in 50 overs format in 93 innings.
Babar Azam Is The Key Player On Our Team – Mohammad Yousuf
Mohammad Yousuf believes Babar Azam would come good as the captain for the Pakistan team and stated that he would be key for Pakistan’s success in International cricket and added that management should have a conversation with the skipper if they need any changes in approach.
“Babar’s knowledge and capability to overcome struggles are unparalleled. He is the key player on our team, and we must not put any pressure on him. If we disturb him, we disturb the entire Pakistan team. When facing a problem, sitting down and having a conversation with Babar can be the key to success,” he added.
According to reports, Babar Azam would lead Pakistan in both formats against New Zealand after missing out on the series against Afghanistan. The 28-year-old has been facing criticism regarding his captaincy after he failed to win a single Test at home against England and New Zealand. Many former cricketers want Babar Azam to give up his leadership role in one format and want Shadab Khan to take over T20 captaincy.
