PAK Vs SL 2017: Sri Lanka ‘A’ and Under-19 Teams to Travel To Pakistan Soon
The Sri Lankan team went to Lahore for the final T20, and the Sri Lankan cricket board is all praises about the security arrangements made by the Pakistan Cricket Board for the one T20 match in Lahore. The Sri Lankan team lost all the limited over matches on their tour of UAE, but their effort of travelling to Pakistan won hearts of the entire cricketing fraternity.
Sri Lanka won the two-match Test series in the UAE but then lost the five-match ODI series and then lost the T20 series as well. The first two T20’s were played in Sharjah which also Pakistan won. Sri Lanka and Pakistan then travelled to Lahore for the final T20. Sri Lanka travelled to Pakistan for the first time since the terrorist attacks on their team bus in 2009.
The Sri Lankan cricket board Chief Executive Ashley De Silva says that they are looking forward to sending more teams to the country after the successful tour of Lahore by the national senior team. De Silva confirmed that they would be sending the Sri Lanka ‘A’ and Under-19 teams to Pakistan:
“They delivered the security they promised, and we were very satisfied with all the arrangements, our FTP (Future Tours Program) does not include Pakistan, but we will have one as soon as possible. We are sending our A team and an Under-19 team to play against Pakistan shortly.”
Sri Lankan sports minister Dayasiri Jayasekara and Sri Lankan Cricket board President Thilanga Sumathipala also travelled to Lahore and were happy with the security arrangements made by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Sri Lanka won the Test series 2-0 courtesy, Rangana Herath’s heroics with the ball in both the Tests but since the Test series the Sri Lankans had nothing to cheer about as they were hammered in the ODI as well as the T20 series. Sri Lanka has had a miserable form in the Limited over format. They lost 5-0 in the ODI series against India and then lost the lone T20 too. In total, they have lost 14 matches in a row in coloured clothing.
Sri Lanka will next play a three-match Test series followed by a three-match ODI and T20 series against in India scheduled to begin from 16th November at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
