Pakistan Include PSL Performers in National Squad for Upcoming T20I Series Against Windies
The Pakistan Selectors have included uncapped players Shaheen Afridi, Asif Ali and Hussain Talat in the Pakistan squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against the Windies scheduled to be played at the National Stadium in Karachi. This will also see the return of mainstream cricket in Pakistan. A few months back a World XI team had traveled to Pakistan for a three-match T20I series. However, this will be the first international match in Karachi since 2009.
Talat is a middle order batsman who was part of the victorious Islamabad United side in this year’s Pakistan Super League. He ended the tournament with 201 runs in 12 matches at an average of 33.50. Fast bowler Shaheen Afridi also made an impact in the limited opportunities he got for the franchise. It included a great spell of 4/5 in the match against the Multan Sultans.
Asif Ali also scored 213 runs for the Islamabad United at an impressive average of 30.42. Meanwhile, fast bowlers Rahat Ali and Usman Khan are also making their comebacks in national colors after bagging 16 and 15 wickets respectively.
Left-arm spinner and a powerful hitter of the ball, Imad Wasim and left-arm seamer Rumman Raees have also failed to make significant progress from the injuries. Meanwhile, batsmen Umar Amin, Mohammed Hafeez and Haris Sohail have also been dropped from the three-game series.
Ahmed Shehzad, Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, Asif Ali, Sarfraz Ahmed (captain), Hussain Talat, Faheem Ashraf, Muhammad Nawaz, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Amir, Hasan Ali, Rahat Ali, Usman Khan Shinwari, Shaheen Shah Afridi
