Pakistan has named their 16-man squad for the three T20I’s scheduled to be played against a World XI side at the Gaddafi Stadium from 12th to 15th September.
The series has been organised in an attempt to bring back cricket to Pakistan and some of the greatest cricketers of modern times will take the field in Lahore after a long time. Faf du Plessis will lead the World XI side, and the team will also have the likes of Hashim Amla, Paul Collingwood, David Miller, Imran Tahir and many others.
Meanwhile a day after the announcement of the World XI side, the Pakistan board have also named their 16-man squad which will be led by their regular captain Sarfaraz Ahmed. The team is expected to field the more or less same XI which saw them crushing arch-rivals India in the Champions Trophy final in June. Despite the World XI side being a formidable one, you can’t rule out Pakistan, given their brilliant bowling line-up.
The team consists of some impressive names. The opening slot is expected to be taken by Fakhar Zaman and Ahmed Shehzad, who has been recalled to the squad. The middle-order will have the likes of Babar Azam, experienced campaigner Shoaib Malik, Umer Amin and the captain himself. The bowling department will be led by Mohammad Amir who has some able partners in the likes of Hassan Ali and Ruman Raees.
Most of the bowlers bowled with venom and vigour during the Champions Trophy which resulted in Pakistan lifting their maiden Champions Trophy title despite languishing at the bottom of the ICC ODI Rankings for teams. Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan is expected to be the two spinners. While Imad can contribute well with the bat lower down the order and is a handy bowler too, Shadab has impressed one and all with his leg-breaks and have performed brilliantly in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League so far.
