Pakistan Cricket Team had gone through an uncertainty interval from mid-December from mid-January if they were going to join the Asia Cup Tournament or not. But it ended when the ACC CEO Syed Ashraful Huq confirmed that the side would play the tournament. Just the same when the team reached Dhaka in February 22, they did not talk about the three weeks as the focus has quickly been shifted to the tournamnet where they are going to start their campaign against Sri Lankan team in Fatullah.
Although the PCB had not announced that the side would not play for the Cup in Bangladesh but with the increasing political tension between these two countries made a chance that Pakistan might not attend this tournament. By a long shot the BCB and the Government has arranged the security very high for the cricketers which made them satisfied.
The team manager Zakir Khan said that they have been assured with extra security and they are quite comfortable with it so far. “It has been sorted out and we’ve been promised VIP security,” he said. “We’ve been here for a couple of days, and they have provided whatever we have asked for. We are quite happy.”
“We always enjoy playing in Bangladesh,” Misbah-ul-Haq said after he ha been encountered the question whether the team Pakistan will be able to have the support of Bangladesh people in the game. He sounds optimistic. “When we are supporting Bangladesh, people are supporting Bangladesh. But when we are playing against any other team, it looks like we are playing at home. It is very nice to be here, and play in the Shere Bangla National Stadium. We played the World Cup quarterfinal here in 2011. It was also a game where we felt we are in Lahore. It is good to be here.” he added.
Even if Misba’s assertiveness are not going to change the current mood of the country but Cricket,being a popular game in Bangladesh for this to be made a stand-alone issue.
