Continuing their impressive run in ODIs, Australia beat Pakistan by 80 runs in the third game to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series. Skipper Aaron Finch starred with the bat once again, scoring 90 to help the visitors pile up 266 for 6 before Adam Zampa (4-43) and Pat Cummins (3-24) helped Australia fold up Pakistan for just 186. Australia won the first two matches by identical margins of eight wickets — both in Sharjah.

Turning point of the match:

Pat Cummins all but sealed Pakistan’s fate with a stunning display at the start of the game. He dismissed Shan Masood, Haris Sohail and Mohammad Rizwan for single-digit scores to reduce the hosts to 16 for 3. Pakistan could never recover from those early setbacks and were all out for 186.

Australia started shakily and lost opener in-form Usman Khawaja off just the fifth ball, bowled for a duck by Usman Shinwari. Junaid Khan then dismissed Shaun Marsh for 14 to leave Australia struggling at 20-2.

However, Finch, fresh off the two tons in the first two ODIs,   added 84 for the third wicket with Peter Handscomb (47) to help his team recover. Finch added another 36 with Marcus Stoinis (10) and 48 for the fifth wicket with Glenn Maxwell.

Maxwell and Alex Carey (25 not out) provided the final flourish by putting on a quick 61 for the sixth wicket as Australia hit 90 in the last 10 overs.

Pakistan vs Australia – Australia innings:

After the much-needed rest in the first two games following his heroics in India, Cummins destroyed Pakistan’s top-order. He dismissed Shan Masood (two) in his third over and then had Haris Sohail (one) and Mohammad Rizwan (nought) in his fourth.

As a result, Pakistan found themselves 3 down for just 16 before opener Imam-ul-Haq (46) and Shoaib Malik (32) put on a fourth wicket stand of 59.  Glenn Maxwell ended the stand by trappingImam leg-before.

Umar Akmal (36) and Imad Wasim (43) showed some fight during their stand of 53 for the sixth wicket but Zampa wiped off the tail with career best figures.
