Resuming at 272 for 8 Sri Lanka was bowled out for 279. Rahat Ali and Yasir Shah were the pick of the bowlers claiming 9 wickets between them. When the Pakistan team started their innings Shan Masood and Ahmed Shezazd began well putting on 32 runs for the first wicket before Shan Masood was LBW by Dhammika Prasad. Ahemed Shezad too went playing a loose shot for 21. At the stroke of Lunch Pakistan lost the important wicket of Younis Khan as Pakistan went into lunch at 45 for 3.
In the second session Asad Shafiq and Azhar Ali played some good cricket. Azhar Ali was timing the ball. Both of them shared a 46 4th wicket stand. After the rain break Shafiq was given LBW by Dhammika Prasad. The fall of Shafiq wicket meant that Sarfarz Ahmed came. Rain came down again when the score was 117 for 4. Early tea was taken.
In the third session Sarfarz and Azhar Ali were comfortable at the crease. Azhar Ali completed his half century. Azhar Ali was caught out in slips of the bowling Nuwan Pradeep at the score of 135. Misbah came and got out for 6 of Nuwan Pradeep. The next over Ehsan Adil was LBW of Thindru Kashual bowling. Yasir Shah and Sarfarz Ahmed put up a 45 8th wicket stand before Yasir Shah got out for 18. Sarfarz completed his 50. Another rain break came. After the rain break Rahat Ali was dismissed. Sarfarz Ahmed remained not out on 72. At the end of 2nd day Pakistan were 209 for 9 and 69 runs behind Sri Lanka.
