Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik refused to take the Windies lightly ahead of the upcoming three-match T20I series at home. Despite having the edge over Windies, Malik said didn’t want to take them lightly. This will be the first full series against a top T20I nation after several years. Windies will be sending a relatively inexperienced side with Jason Mohammed as their captain. But they can spring a surprise or two.
“I have been playing the Caribbean Premier League for the last 5 to 6 years, so I know their team is really solid. We focus more on the big names but ignore the basic fact that it’s the team combination that wins you games. And they have sent a really well-balanced squad,” Malik was quoted as saying by the Dawn.
Malik also showered praises on his young teammates Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Ali, Shadab Khan, Muhammad Nawaz and Faheem Ashraf. He said that these players remind him of former Pakistan superstars and their talent and efforts.
“I have played with many former players of Pakistan and all these young boys remind me of them in many ways. The selection committee and the team management deserve a lot of credit for sticking with these boys which is why their game is improving with each day,” Malik said. Regular WWindies T20I skipper Carlos Brathwaite who rose to fame with a 4 sixes of 4 balls during the fiinal of the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 will miss the upcoming series due to security concerns.
