Parthiv Patel made bis debut for India in 2002, but since MS Dhoni broke into the scene, he made sure that no one could replace him in the Indian side.
It led Parthiv playing second-fiddle to MS Dhoni for the majority of his career. However, before Dhoni’s arrival, Parthiv Patel had a fair share of experience of playing for the senior national side which he reminisces as he looks back on his career after having come so far in his cricketing journey.

Narrating one such story of his senior cricketing days with the Indian cricket team, Parthiv Patel has revealed the two bowlers he had to struggle to keep wickets against.

The wicket-keeper also had to keep to the duo of Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh on Indian wickets and said that it was quite a challenge since they were both at their peak.

“It was a big challenge for sure, because Anil bhai and Harbhajan were at their peak. Their speed was faster than the normal spinners, but more than the speed the biggest challenge was the bounce which they were generating, especially when playing in Chennai and Mumbai. So that was a very big challenge,” Parthiv said.

The spin duo of Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble has been the most successful in Indian cricket, and they have been the best spinners for India since the inception of the game in the country. Kumble has been a legend in world cricket and is the third-highest wicket-taker across all formats in international cricket.

Kumble ended his Test career with 619 wickets in his bag, whereas, Harbhajan Singh scalped a total of 417 wickets in Test cricket. Harbhajan has the second-highest number of Test wickets by an off-spinner, behind Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan.
