Pat Cummins: David Warner Will Be Alright For Adelaide
David Warner on Friday didn’t take the field after Australia were bowled out for 425, taking a 278-run lead in the first innings of the ongoing first Ashes Test in Brisbane. The left-hand batsman is currently nursing bruised ribs and fortunately, the scans have shown that he hasn’t suffered a fracture. David Warner coped a nasty blow to his chest from Ben Stokes while batting on the second day at the Gabba.
“He is fine, we did not want to risk him and he will be alright for Adelaide,” Cummins said after the game.
Pat Cummins ended with figures of 5/38 in 13.1 overs as Australia made a dream start to the Ashes series, bowling England out on a below-par 147 in the first innings. Travis Head blasted a rapid-fire century to crush England hopes on the second day of the opening Ashes Test at the Gabba on Thursday.

At the close of play on the 2nd day, Australia was 343-7, a lead of 196 on England’s dismal first-innings total of 147. Travis Head was unbeaten on 112 from only 95 balls before scoring 152 in Australia’s 425. David Warner was injured when hit in the ribs while making 94 in Australia’s first innings.
Pat Cummins: Travis Head Can Take The Game Away In A Couple Of Hours
Nathan Lyon, skipper Pat Cummins, David Warner, and Travis Head were the standout performers as Australia defeated England by nine wickets in the first Ashes 2021/22 Test at the Gabba, Brisbane on Saturday. Chasing 20, Alex Carey (9) and Marcus Harris (9*) made light work of the chase and the hosts registered victory in just 5.1 overs.
“Really enjoyed it, a lot of things did go right probably from the toss, overcast conditions, the wicket had a bit in it and to turn up on day 2 – under blue skies, someone’s smiling over me. Really proud of everyone.
“A really complete performance, the bowlers did everything on day 1, and Marnus-Davey with a big partnership and the way Travis played, it is a sign of a really positive group. I was happy everyone stuck to it – we bowled without much luck yesterday, fair with all the luck on day 1,” said Cummins.

“That’s why we want Travis Head in the side, he can take the game away in a couple of hours, we have seen him do it for South Australia. He averages 45 now, he is still young but is an old pro with the amount of first-class cricket he has played and hopefully he is away now,” he added.
Travis Head took just 85 balls to reach triple figures and smashed the England bowlers all over the park. His knock of 152 off just 148 balls was laced with 14 boundaries and four sixes.
Nathan Lyon and Pat Cummins got among the wickets as Australia inched closer to victory against England on Day 4. England was bowled out for 297, setting a target of just 20 runs for Australia to win the Gabba Test. England collapsed from 223-2 to 297 all out on day four. David Warner, who also has a rib injury, did not field on the third day and did not open batting when his side chased 20 to win.
